Artist REVIEW: MARK HENNEN

Screw safe coffee shop jazz, any self-respecting music nerd like me occasionally needs artists like Mark Hennen to challenge the barriers of music and bring it to the next level in an odyssey of purely instrumental epic avant-garde jazz with groovy and quirky smells of experimental art rock, where there is clearly a playful symbiotic contrast between the organic percussion and the more electronic keys/synths. I also want to highlight skin and bone refinements and psychedelic drones towards the end making this EP acquire progressively more and more artificial details! Also, chaotic nonsensical exploration of poly rhythms gives this EP, “Mark solo” a muddy colorful aesthetic that not so many projects would even dream of achieving. These melodies deliver a tímeless sense of freedom and spontaneity that perfectly matches the sounds explored. Visionary avant – garde musicianship proves to be way more versatile than one could imagine given the aesthetic and approach, so “Mark solo” definitely stands out as one of the most creatively intriguing jazz performances I ever crossed paths with!
